Courses 2009
NMC has planned a series of courses for 2009. The courses will be held in Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim and Tromsų. The courses in Oslo and Bergen will have the same topics, which means that it is possible to e.g. do the introduction course in Oslo and the Analysis course in Bergen and vice versa. Knowledge of the topics covered in the introduction course is expected for the analysis course, see course plans further down on this page. In addition we have a Lab and Analysis course in Trondheim and an analysis course in Tromsų. All are open to anyone interested in learning more about microarrays and the analysis of microarray data.

Introduction to Microarrays, Bergen, 17. -18. September 2009 The introductory course is a two day course and is aimed at scientists who are new to microarrays or those who want to learn about experimental design. Main topics to be covered are:
Registration is now closed Presentations for the course is located here For updated course program click here
Analysing microarrays using J-Express - This is a 3 day course where J-Express will be used as an analysis tool. This course builds on the Introduction to microarrays course, so knowledge about the microarray technology is expected. We intend to focus on practical exercises in this course where pre-processed and normalized microarray data will be used as analysis material. The main topics to be covered are:
Quick presentation of the microarray pipeline Experimental design Differential expression SAM/t-test/Rank Product Gene Set Analysis Gene Ontology Time series Explorative methods (PCA, clustering etc.) Quick introduction of R/Bioconductor
The course will be limit to 20 participants and the course fee is 900 NOK. Contact person: thea@microarray.no
